Freshen-Ups, Fitness & Return to Training
A positive change of environment for Thoroughbreds returning from a spell, needing mental freshening or requiring fitness and correct ridden work before returning to their trainer or owner.
Starting Under Saddle
Patient, progressive early education for young Thoroughbreds, with emphasis on confidence, good manners, understanding and strong foundations for their future work.
Rehabilitation & Return to Work
Carefully managed support for horses returning from injury, surgery, rest or an extended period away from work, in collaboration with owners and equine professionals.
Space to Work, Time to Understand the Horse
Brookby Heights combines varied training facilities with limited horse numbers, allowing each Thoroughbred to follow a programme shaped around its condition, temperament and next stage.
2.5km Hacking Track
The private track provides variety, forward work and a valuable change from repetitive arena exercise, supporting fitness, confidence and mental freshening.
60m × 40m Sand Arena
The large arena provides a controlled environment for developing balance, suppleness, responsiveness and correct work through the horse’s body.
Limited Numbers
Only a limited number of horses are accepted at one time, allowing Karen to provide consistent handling, individual attention and a programme adapted to each horse.
Regular Video Updates
Owners and trainers remain involved through regular videos and direct communication, with visits welcomed by arrangement throughout the horse’s stay.
Regular Access to Equine Physiotherapy
Highly respected equine physiotherapist Clare McGowan visits Brookby Heights every second Tuesday, providing convenient access to physiotherapy support where required.
Where appropriate, Karen can work alongside Clare, owners, trainers, veterinarians and other equine professionals to support the horse’s comfort, movement and progress.
Spelling Agistment by Arrangement
Where space allows, Brookby Heights may be able to provide spelling agistment for suitable Thoroughbreds needing time away from regular work or a quieter change of environment.
Availability is limited and considered individually according to the horse’s needs, temperament, timing and the other horses currently on the property.
